What this JLPT placement quiz measures
The quiz samples written language knowledge at all five levels. It checks basic vocabulary and particles first, then moves through increasingly nuanced grammar and Kanji. To reduce lucky over-placement, the result only advances through consecutive levels where you answer at least two of three questions correctly.
What the result does not prove
The official JLPT measures language knowledge, reading, and listening. This short browser quiz cannot reproduce full passages, audio, scaled scoring, or sectional pass requirements. Treat the result as a study starting point—not a prediction that you will pass.
What to do next
If you land below N5, learn Kana and foundational sentence patterns. If you receive N5–N3, build a weekly routine across vocabulary, grammar, reading, and listening. At N2 or N1, add longer timed reading and natural-speed audio. Use the JLPT Study Planner to turn the result into a schedule.
Official level direction
