Study the Gojūon pattern first
Begin with the five vowels, then learn each consonant row from left to right. Empty cells are part of the traditional sound pattern, not missing content. Tap a character to copy it into your notes.
Dakuten, handakuten, and Yōon
Dakuten adds two strokes and voices a consonant: か becomes が. Handakuten adds a small circle to the H row to create P sounds. Yōon combines an i-column character with small ya, yu, or yo.
