Translation and Japanese writing
English and Japanese express meaning in different ways. Japanese often places the verb at the end of a sentence and leaves out subjects that are clear from context. A translation may therefore use a different word order from the original English.
The result can contain Kanji, Hiragana, and Katakana together. That combination is normal in Japanese: Kanji often carries the meaning of a word, Hiragana forms grammatical endings, and Katakana is commonly used for foreign names and loanwords.
Give your sentence enough context
Words such as “bank” or “right” can have several meanings. Translate a complete sentence instead of an isolated word when possible. Mention who is speaking and what they mean if a pronoun or situation could be ambiguous.
Check tone and important details
Japanese has different levels of politeness. An automatic translation may not match the relationship between speakers. Check names, numbers, dates, and the intended tone before sharing the result. For an important document, have a fluent Japanese speaker review it.
Learning tip: Use translations to explore sentence patterns. Read a sentence, identify a familiar word or particle, and compare it with an example from your study material.
Translation or Katakana conversion?
This translator converts the meaning of English text into Japanese. If you want to write the sound of an English name or word in Japanese, use the Japanese Name Converter or English to Katakana tool. If you already know a Japanese reading in Latin letters, try Romaji to Hiragana.
Frequently asked questions
Is this English to Japanese translator free?
Yes. You can use the tool without an account. Each request supports up to 1,000 characters. Rate limits and a shared translation allowance help keep it available; if a limit is reached, try again later.
Does it translate whole sentences?
Yes. You can translate words, phrases, and short paragraphs. Complete sentences usually give the translation engine more useful context.
Will the result include Romaji or Furigana?
The result uses Japanese writing. This tool does not add Romaji readings or Furigana. It is a translation tool, rather than a reading dictionary.
Can I type Japanese directly instead?
Yes. Open the Japanese Keyboard to type using clickable Kana keys or Romaji input.
Is the translation always accurate?
Automatic translations can miss context, idioms, names, or the intended level of politeness. Review the result before using it, especially for a formal or important message.
